About
I am a seminary student, a husband, and a Unitarian Universalist (not necessarily in that order).
I grew up not attending church, but I realized just after attending college that something was missing from my life. It had been a rough time. I had moved out of my home state for the first time, I was not happy with much in my life except for my job, and then a professor who had been a huge influence in my life died. So, when I moved back to Texas, I checked out the local Unitarian Universalist church, and I was hooked. About four years later, I began seminary. I attend Andover Newton Theological School and plan to graduate in May 2012. I started my seminary career at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, but transferred after my wife (check out her blog here) took a job in Boston.
I am the intern minister at the First Parish in Needham, where I lead worship, work with the youth group, and provide pastoral care, among other responsibilities. All candidates for the UU ministry are required to do an internship. Many do that internship in a UU parish, working with an experienced supervisor to learn, grow, and prepare to be an ordained minister.
I work part-time for UU World, the magazine of the Unitarian Universalist Association, as production specialist. Previously, I worked for two other UU churches in Massachusetts, before that I had a career in newspapers as an editor, reporter, and page designer.
I hope you enjoy this blog, and feel free to leave a comment.
In faith,
